I was trained to work in the rather specialized area of cultural information theory, semiotics, via my M.S. in anthropology. After graduate school, I began to work with collections of information in academic reference libraries and museums as well as writing for trade journals and publications until I found my perfect niche in the business world: designing and implementing information channels for non-corporate giants among us.
My niche in the world of business information developed through web content creation and social networking sites in the 1990s when the web was first gaining momentum. I continue doing content and graphics creation, but now I also assist individuals, small businesses, and nonprofit organizations determine how to best represent themselves in the online world.
I also provide website design, setup, and transfer using standard, readily available components for which you can find support through online forums or reasonably priced specialist like myself almost anywhere in the world.
I primarily work with small, minority or women owned businesses, associations and nonprofits, but I actually consider my primary client anyone who has been taken for a ride by black box IT specialists who mainly work to secure their continued vendor status with you by keeping you away from direct contact with necessary information as well as by obfuscation and excessive customization of your site that only they can readily maneuver or change.
My second major area of service is in the setup and management of virtual meeting & business event venues in various virtual world platforms, as well as in social media coaching services, branding, and marketing.
Graphic design services play an integral part in all my areas of specialization so I can provide the necessary graphics and images to make your project pop and stay within your budget through photo services or in house design.
Of course I provide training in how to use these wonderful low cost, open source, and free resources to which I direct you. Projects can be written to include specific amounts of training and followup consulting after product delivery.
